The Arsenal Paper Round: Tuesday June 22, 2010

Cesc Fabregas played his first part in the World Cup last night with a substitute's role. He came on after 65 minutes and his first touch of the ball was a shot which was cleared from the line from a Honduras' defender.

The transfer bandwagon trying to take him to Barcelona kicked up another gear yesterday.

Outgoing Barcelona president Joan Laporta said we would "give in" and sell our captain to them.

He's quoted in The Mirror:

"Arsenal will end up giving in, but I don't know when that will be.

"If it's not us, it will be up to the new board if they consider it appropriate to carry on along this road."
In other transfer news, Joe Cole is reported in The Sun to have told 'pals' he wants to join Manchester United. His contract with Chelsea officially expired next Wednesday.

Francis Coquelin will join French club Lorient on loan next season.

Nothing new on the other transfer saga of the summer so far Laurent Koscielny. The Coquelin deal may sweeten Lorient enough to sell him to us.

Carlos Vela won't start in Mexico's game with Uruguay this afternoon due to injury.

You would expect Sagna, Gallas and Diaby to start for France in their must win game with South Africa.

And that's your lot. More throughout the day on Twitter if anything is going on.
