Goodbye to Philippe Senderos

Swiss defender Philippe Senderos has left Arsenal after six seasons with the club.

The defender joins Fulham on a three-year deal and there is no transfer fee, as the players' contract was not renewed by Arsenal.

His most positive period in an Arsenal shirt was when he played in a make shift back four during the 2005-2006 season when the club made it to the champions League final in Paris.

He will not want to remember his duels with Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, who always had the better over the defender.

The defender fell out of favour with Arsene Wenger and was loaned out to Italian side AC Milan in the 2008-09 season.

Last term, he was again loaned out, joining Everton in the January transfer window for the remainder of the 2009-10 season.

At 25, Senderos still has the majority of his career ahead of him. He has the potential to improve in the next few years.

I know I will not be the only Arsenal fan to wish that Arsene Wenger had given Senderos more time to develop.

I wish him well during his time at Fulham, apart from when he faces Arsenal.
