Arsenal youngster set to join north-east club on loan

It appears that Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury could be heading away from the Grove this season to seek out first team football.

The 19-year-old midfielder spend last term on loan with Watford.

He made 38 appearances for The Hornets last term, scoring five goals. When his loan deal ended he headed back to the Grove and forced his way into Arsene Wenger's team for the last home game of the season against Fulham in the Premier League.

Lansbury is though of highly by Wenger, but would be behind fellow youngster Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere if he were to stay with Arsenal this season.

The teenager started the second period for the Gunners yesterday in their pre-season opener against Barnet.

He was fairly anonymous, as the home side moved more bodies into the middle of the park for the second half.

Newcastle are closest to taking him for the 2010-11 campaign, with interest having been expressed from Fulham and West Brom also.
