Arsenal v Blackpool: player ratings

Arsenal 6 - Blackpool 0
At Ashburton Grove

Manuel Almunia - Did everything which was asked off him. One weird moment in the first half when he kick the ball out of play when under no pressure whatsoever. - 6

Bacary Sagna - Was a constant threat from the right. Pushed up to support Theo Walcott and was the provider of many a cross. Worked himself hard and looked knackered at the end. Made Diaby's goal with a neat cross. - 7

Alex Song - Had little to do and what he did have to contend with he was up to the challenge. - 6

Thomas Vermaelen - Was solid in the centre of defence. Like Song had little to do but marshaled the defence well. - 6

Gael Clichy - Was always an option on the left and pushed forward as much as he could to assist with an attack. His pace always helps him out of situations at the back and he contended well with the pressure which was put on him. - 7

Tomas Rosicky - Was the force behind today's victory. Did everything right. Filled in for Nasri and was a consent threat going forward. He always looks for a positive pass forward. - 8

Abou Diaby - Scored a goal and broke up play in his position as the anchor of the midfield. My only criticism of him is that he slows down play too much and wants too many touches. Overall though a positive influence on the game. Got a goal. - 7

Jack Wilshere - Had a better game today than against Liverpool. Growing into his role with Arsenal. Was always positive going forward looking for team mates with a forward pass . Gave Theo the ball for his second goal. - 7

Theo Walcott - An excellent performance from the Englishman. Offered us an outlet on the right. Had more than three opportunities to score, but took his goals well. Lets hope this is the turning point. Scored a hattrick - 9

Marouane Chamakh - Worked hard for the team, running into channels and always trying to provide an outlet. Missed a sitter in the second half when it seemed easier to score. Overall promising. Good header for his goal. - 7

Andrey Arshavin - After the Anfield debacle the Russian put in a better overall performance. However there were still stray passes which let him down. Took his penalty well. Still needs to move up a gear to be in the form we know he can reach. - 7

Cesc Fabregas: Came on for his first minutes of the season. Did everything he needed to. - 6

Robin van Persie - Perhaps not as fresh as he could have been and a little off the pace like Fabregas. But always a threat. Had an assist from his corner for Chamakh's goal. - 6

Carlos Vela - Wide left for the remainder of the first period. Showed off excellent skill with a piece of individual brilliance but his weak shot at the end let him down. - 6
