Arsenal v Sporting Braga: Player ratings

Arsenal v Sporting Braga
Champions League Group H
Matchday One
At Ashburton Grove

Manuel Almunia - Didn't have a lot to do but the saves he did have to make were routine. Solid performance. - 6

Bacray Sagna - Didn't attack as much as normal but got forward in the second half when needed. Was booked for a challenge. - 6

Sebastien Squillaci - Another comfortable performance from our new recruit. Challenged well in the air and I can't think of much he did which was wrong. A useful asset from corners. - 6

Laurent Koscielny - Reads the game very well and that got him out of trouble. Didn't look out of place on the Champions League stage. - 6

Gael Clichy - A good contribution going forward and a solid performance at the back. Wasn't overly troubled throughout the game. - 6

Cesc Fabregas - Head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. Worked hard for his team all over the pitch. Two goals, should have had a first half penalty and a number of assists. My first ever player to receive full marks. - 10

Alex Song - Patrolled in front of the back four and helped out going forward. A very important cog in our team. - 7

Jack Wilshere - A much improved display from Saturday. Really involved in the game and was passing to perfection. Lovely trick for Marouane Chamakh's goal. - 8

Samir Nasri - Floated in and out of the game, I'm guessing he was feeling his way back from injury. His attacking threat is always visible. - 7

Marouane Chamakh - Scored a goal and showed his game isn't just about his aerial threat. Linked well with all the players around him and worked hard all over the pitch. - 8

Andrey Arshavin - The little Russian should have had a hatful on Saturday but made up for it tonight. Scored one, heavily involved in the build up to another and created Cesc's second. Still not on top form but getting there. - 8

Denilson - Came on and slotted into Song's position.  Moved the ball around well. - 6

Carlos Vela -  Scored two and proved himself to be an attacking threat. His second goal was harder than it looked. - 7

Emmanuel Eboue - Threw in a decent performance with the time he was on the pitch and caused a threat. - 6
