Tottenham v Arsenal: Player ratings

Tottenham 1 - Arsenal 4
Carling Cup at White Hart Lane

Lukasz Fabianski - Will be disappointed with himself for not saving Keane's shot, even though the player was off side. Apart from that handled well and his distribution was good. 5

Emmanuel Eboue - Comfortable performance and grew in confidence as the game went on. Driving force going forward in the second half. 7

Laurent Koscielny - The rock in the heart of our defence. Showed real commitment in the tackle and wasn't going to let the Spurs players past him. 8

Johan Djourou - First start for the first team this season and looked shaky. He often gambled about reaching the ball first, leaving space behind him for the Spurs players to run into with the ball if he missed it. Got better as the game wore on. 6

Kieran Gibbs - Very encouraging performance, especially the second half when he kept Aaron Lennon in his pocket. Would have been on the score sheet had the linesman wrongly called him offside. 8

Henri Lansbury - Got his chance and took it with both hands. Good industrious performance from a player making his north London derby and full first team debut. Scored the first goal with a run and shot Freddie Ljungberg would have been proud of. Worked hard for the team throughout the 120 minutes and didn't let anyone down. 8

Denilson - Solid in his holding role. Kept us ticking over and worked his socks off for the team. Good in the tackle as well as going forward. 7

Jack Wilshere - Ran the show in the first half. Everything was going through the 18-year-old. He is wise beyond his age and pulled the strings in all our movement. Fouled constantly in the first 45 but kept his cool. Marked heavily in the second half and pushed out of the game. 8

Tomas Rosicky - An average performance from the Czech compared with his high standards. Worked hard and moved us forward with his quick passing and vision for a forward ball. 7

Carlos Vela - Pretty anonymous if truth be told. Didn't really happen for him leading the line tonight. Floated in and out of the game. I think I expected more from him. 6

Samir Nasri - Scored two delightful penalties in extra time to see us home. Created chances and moved the ball well. Made us tick in the second half when Wilshere was more subdued. 8

Substitutes:

Marouane Chamakh - Composed performance. Ran around for the team but didn't have any clear cut shooting opportunities. 6

Andrey Arshavin - Scored a stunning goal to make it 4-1. Still not at his best but he keeps scoring and being in the right place at the right time. 7

Gael Clichy - An extra time substitute for Kieran Gibbs. Was solid and gave little away in the 19 minutes he was on the field. 6

  2. The ref changed the game with a shocking decision giving a penalty for an obvious dive from nasri. Same old ar5ena1. Always cheating.

  3. @stoney Well he said Gibbs was off side when he was not. and said Keane was onside when he was off. Arsenal would have won it in regulation time

  4. Stoney my boy ,the reason Spurs coninue to believe that they are better than they ever are is encapsulated in your comment.

    1) We put out our kids (3rd team) and lost 5-1.
    2) This year we put out our reserves and won 4-1 but could have doubled it.

    3) We should have had a penalty in first 15 minutes Lansbury shoved over in the box.

    4) Gibbs walked in a second and was wrongly given offside when TV proved he well onside.

    5) Spurs had a 12 minute spell in the second half and scored an obvious to all and TV offside goal which made the game more intresting for them.

    6) after that 12 minute spell Spurs did not have another shot (at home to our reserves) anf AFC had 5 all on target.

    7) Bassong is left standing in his own area and catches Nasri...stone wall penalty.

    8) Chamakh clean through an pulled round in a circle ..stone wall pen.

Shall I go on or are you going to wake up and realise that your team are a good headless chicken side that will is OK against similar but when when against our mighty RESERVES...look what they are.

If you still agree with twitchey Harry then god help you.

  5. Peter. The easiest person to deceive is yourself. 3rd team beaten 5-1. Gallas, sagna, hleb, silva, fabregas, adebayor, bedtner, Walcott, diaby, Eduardo all played in that game. You're a little liar. Tut tut.
