Manchester City v Arsenal: Player ratings

Manchester City v Arsenal
Premier League
At Eastlands

Lukasz Fabianski - Super save in the opening minute to deny Silva. Comfortable handling and distribution. Also made some terrific saves in the second half before our second goal to keep us on the game. Let's hope his confidence keeps growing. - 8

Bacray Sagna - Positive contributions going forward throughout the game which certainly made a difference when we were spreading the play in the second half. Defensively sound as well. - 7

Sebastien Squillaci - Made some telling interceptions when needed especially in the first half when City had more of the ball. Had a good game despite not being too heavily involved. - 7

Johan Djourou - Still coming into form following his long lay off and is certainly not putting in performances which would make him an automatic first choice. Easily brushed off the ball by Tevez and Richards in the first half when you'd hope he'd be stronger. Positive in his distribution and should have score if his header had been on target. - 6

Gael Clichy - Strong performance from the left back. Good tackling and distribution. Not targeted by the City attackers as many opposition like to. Caused problems in the second half helping Arsenal attack by helping spread the play. - 7

Denilson - Included in the starting line up at the last minute after Diaby's injury. Competent performance by the Brazilian who played in the deepest of the midfielders. Good passing range and interceptions. - 7

Alex Song
- As part of the two man defensive midfield, Song played the more offensive role of the two. There didn't seem to be as many niggly fouls which seem to have crept into his game. Provided another man in our game going forward. Scored a superb goal. - 8

Samir Nasri
- I had a feeling the Frenchman could have been the difference today and he was. Incisive going forward, offering an outlet and always looking to go forward rather than sideways. Scored an excellent goal after good build up play and produced the killer pass for Bendtner's goal. Was our key man. - 9

Cesc Fabregas
- Coming back into his best form following his injury lay off. Offering some incisive passing and his relationship with Chamakh is building well. Still offers the bite in midfield and isn't afraid to put his foot in. An assist for our captain in Song's goal. A telling contribution to our overall win despite his penalty miss. - 8

Andrey Arshavin
- Another quiet game for the Russian. Didn't seem to be able to do anything right in the first 15-20 minutes but then seemed to find some composure and his passing range. Was involved in Nasri's opening goal with a superb pass. - 6

Marouane Chamakh
- His running and overall contribution is astonishingly refreshing. He probes the channels and doesn't mind dropping deep to help his teammates. Would like him to score a few more goals but his return so far can't be dismissed. - 8

Substitutes

Tomas Rosicky - The Czech's contribution to our forward play is refreshing. Always trying to make a forward pass and doesn't shirk his defensive duties. - 7

Theo Walcott
- Still slowly finding his way back into the first team set up. I would have like to have seen him introduced earlier but expect he could start against Newcastle. - 7

Nicklas Bendtner
- Scored a goal in his second substitute appearance of the week, which was superbly taken. Will still be feeling his way back into football. - 7
