Time for Wenger to withdraw Jack from the starting line up

Arsene Wenger has hinted at it during his pre-match press conference but I think today it is time that Jack Wilshere is dropped to the bench for our trip to Everton.

It is undeniable that Wilshere has proved himself to be capable at this level.

And it's not a surprise that Fabio Capello has called the 18-year-old into his senior ahead of any prolonged run in the under-21s.

But he has struggled to impose himself on games away from home.

Against Wolves he made only 27 passes (92% accurate) in the 68 minutes he was on the pitch. While at the Grove against Newcastle four days before he was arguably our best player on the pitch when those around him were having off days.

The game against the Hammers saw him contribute 53 passes (88% accurate) in 73 minutes.

That's why I feel today against a team like Everton who live to impose themselves in midfield we should call Denilson back into the starting line up.

He came on against Wolves and offered us a calming presence in midfield and taking the sting out of Mick McCarthy's team's attacking threat.

Today I feel he would be better equipped to do the same job on an Everton midfield of Johnny Heitinga and Mikel Arteta, with Tim Cahill certain to lie deeper off Louis Saha.

I think the back five picks itself. With Koscielny out Djourou will keep his place and we'll need a big game from him. Almunia is due to return to first team training on Monday, so Fabianski continues in goal.

The back four will be Bacray Sagna, Sebastien Squillaci, Johan Djourou and Gael Clichy.

In midfield I think the boss will opt for Alex Song and Denilson in the deep lying midfield roles.

If Samir Nasri is fit to start I would expect him to come back in for Tomas Rosicky, with Cesc Fabregas in the middle and Andrey Arshavin on the left.

Marouane Chamakh will continue to lead the line after his two goals on Wednesday.

So I'd go with:

Sagna - Squillaci - Djourou - Clichy

Song - Denilson

Nasri - Fabregas - Arshavin
