Wolves v Arsenal: Player Ratings

Wolves v Arsenal
Premier League
At Molineux

Lukasz Fabianski - His all round performance was superb tonight. Excellent decision making and distribution. He made the right calls when it came to punching rather than catching as well. Top class saves to keep us ahead, the best and arguably the most important in the 93 minute from Berra to get down low to his left to stop the shot. And then turn play straight to attack leading to Chamakh's second. - 9

Bacray Sagna - What an important block he made at the start of the second half to keep us level pegging. He has an excellent engine on him and his movement on the right, especially going forward allowed us to use the width of the pitch to good effect. - 8

Sebastien Squillaci - Quietly goes about his business but I believe he has been an excellent signing. Just one of his passes was misplaced, three good interceptions and cleared the ball from danger seven out of nine times. Got involved in a mix up with the ball trapped under his feet in the second half and would like him to provide more of a goal threat. - 8

Johan Djourou - Has had some rusty displays but is now beginning to show signs of some good form. Good passing (89% accurate), two interceptions and more successful (6) than unsuccessful (5) clearances. However he failed to win three ariel duels he was involved in and for our tallest defender that is a worry. Needs to offer more at the other end as well. Should be a threat when we've got a corner but has yet to score a goal for us. - 7

Gael Clichy - Dealt with the threat from Matt Jarvis well. Still being targeted by the opposition because of no or little defensive cover in front of him. Passing stat not as strong as his defensive colleagues (78% successful) but that includes two throw ins which when to the opposition, one free kick and one cross which didn't reach a red shirt. However he was strong when dealing with the Wolves attack and had a good game. - 7

Alex Song - Picked out the cross for Chamakh's goal well in the first minute and had a good game. Still not keen on him playing the box to box role of the two deep lying midfielders, would rather he played the screening role. But you can see this season his all round game has certainly developed. Good range of passing and very accurate (90% successful) - 7

Jack Wilshere - Didn't seem to be able to get his foot on the ball and dictate play like he has been doing this season. Passing was good (92%) but perhaps wasn't as offensive as it could have been, preferring to take the easier option of a backwards or sideways pass. Would really like to see him in the final third more, with his ability to pick a pass or shooting opportunity. - 6

Tomas Rosicky - Surprise inclusion for Nasri but deserved his place with a solid and disciplined performance. I love his directness, something we miss when he or Arshavin are not on the pitch. Perhaps something he could work on is his final ball in the highest areas of the pitch. His passing accuracy (82%) would be better had it not been for two crosses which didn't reach a team mate. However this should be of-set with the fact he is at least attempting to go forward with the ball. Would dearly love him to find his shooting boots. - 7

Cesc Fabregas - Improve performance from the Newcastle game. Passing a lot better (87% successful) and was having a go on goal as well (5 attempts in total). Should have added our second early in the second half but is effort was wide. Could easily have been red carded for an awful challenge on Stephen Ward in the 88th minute. It was in an area of the pitch where the challenge did not need to have been made. Beautiful assist for Chamakh's second goal. - 8

Andrey Arshavin - It's like we have a new signing. Where has Arshavin's good form come from? Direct, a nuisance and tough to play against, it appears that the real Andrey Arshavin has turned up. Really positive influence on the game. He had the lowest (73%) accuracy of our forward with his passing, and even some simple short balls going astray, but his determined forward running with the ball have Wolves problems. Unlucky not to have scored with at least one of his five shots. Hit the post. - 8

Marouane Chamakh - Probably the quietest night he's had in the side but one of his most effective as well. Scored with his two efforts on goal and apart from that was hardly involved. Made 25 passes of which 20 found a red shirt (80%), made two interceptions and eight tackles (five were unsuccessful) but was hardly involved otherwise as he didn't have the service. - 8

Substitutes:

Denilson: Came on and helped Song shut up shop. We looked more composed in the second half when he came on and stood in front of the back four. Passing was top notch (100% successful) - 7

Samir Nasri - On the pitch for less than a minute. - N/A

Nicklas Bendtner - On the pitch for less than a minute. - N/A
