Arsenal V Partizan Belgrade: Player Ratings

Arsenal v Partizan Belgrade
Champions League Group H
At Ashburton Grove

Lukasz Fabianski - Made a fine save towards the end of the game. Overall had a good performance. Had very little to do. His distribution was poor towards the end. I don't think the goal was his fault. - 7

Bacray Sagna - Overall he had a good game but the sending off was obviously disappointing. Distribution was good but he was pegged back in the first half and couldn't get the penetration we needed on the right hand side. In the second period he was more involved. - 6

Sebastien Squillaci - For the most part he had a quiet game. Distribution was ok. Seemed to get in the way at important times to break down the Partizan attacks. Couldn't do much about the deflection. These things happen. - 6

Laurent Koscielny - He is easily the best tackler at the club and made some important challenges tonight. Read the game well and was able to steal the ball back on a couple of occasions. Passing ok. - 6

Kieran Gibbs - Disappointingly injured yet again. Was bright in the time he was on the pitch. However sometimes seemed to peg himself back when might have got forward. - 5

Alex Song - Made Nasri's goal with a beautiful piece of skill. Don't feel he was ever truly that involved in the game. Passing not at it's best which meant link up play with the forwards was pretty non existent. However his forward forays were less present than in previous performances. - 7

Denilson - Played in a midfield which wasn't dynamic enough which meant he wasn't used to his full potential. Seemed to be scared to go forward in the first half. Was more involved in the second period. However his final ball and distribution in the final third was patchy. - 6

Samir Nasri - Another good performance from the Frenchman. Tried his best to drag us into the game. Wasnt being allowed the time and space needed to play his game so would drift across the forward line. Took his goal superbly, working with little space and quick feet. - 8

Robin Van Persie - Probably just what he needed in terms of game time but the team had to suffer to accommodate him. He was unable to link the midfield two with attack, which meant we ended giving the ball away cheaply. Put in a better second half performance with some neat touches. Made the goalkeeper work with a super free kick and for his goal dispatched the penalty with aplomb.  - 6

Andrey Arshavin - Little could go right for the Russian. He just had one of those games. His passes were going astray and he wasn't much of a threat going forward. A night he can easily forget. - 5

Marouane Chamakh - Did all the things which have been so effective for him this season so far but got little reward for them. Again ran his socks off but this time his end product let him down. Also he was looking for a team mate when in front of goal when possibly the easiest thing would have beento have a shot. - 6

Emmanuel Eboue - Was thrown into the left back berth when Gibbs was forced off. Did everything that was asked of him. Whipped in a delicious cross in the first half which was crying out for am Arsenal head to get on it. Proved to be sturdy on the left and made some important interceptions - 6

Theo Walcott - In all fairness to him he should have started the game. His pace was an immediate threat. Darting runs are his trademark and he didn't disappoint. Took his goal superbly. - 7

Nicklas Bendtner - Did little to back up his claims that he deserves a place in the starting line up. Ran around a little. Made a few nice passes but can't really him being involved much. - 6
