"I'm a young player who dreams of playing for the Arsenal first team"

Arsenal younger Benik Afobe has admitted he dreams of playing for the Arsenal first team.

The promising 17-year-old striker, currently on loan with League One side Huddersfield Town, joined Arsenal at the age of eight - signing his first professional deal in February.

Big things are expected from the clinical finisher and he has the ambition of playing for the Arsenal first team.

His hard work saw him become the top scorer for Steve Bould's under-18 team last season, hitting the back of the net 20 times in 25 appearances.

Afobe also turned out for Neil Banfield's reserve team, with two starts and three substitute appearances.

The England under-17 international joined Town on an initial one month loan. That was extended last Monday until January 8.

In an interview with the Football League Paper, Afobe said:
"I've loved my time at Huddersfield so to stay here and play first team football for another month is going to be very good experience. Most players my age are playing for the yeast team so it is a big learning curve on me.
"It helps to come to the side that are winning. I'm a young player who dreams of playing for the Arsenal first team and I want to have a winning mentality.
"So if Huddersfield keep winning then I'll have that when I go back to Arsenal. That is what I want to do throughout my career - play for teams that are looking to win things.
"I've played a lot more games than I expected. Every week here there has been a game on Saturday and Tuesday. I'm not used to playing two games a week and I benefit from that because you have to be fit. In League One you have to be able to battle every ball, so I'm improving strength wise.
"There is a massive difference between League One with Huddersfield and Arsenal reserves. No disrespect to reserve team football, but this is real.
"You have to battle every pointy and win and I think I've battled more in the last month and I had in the last year and that has really helped me. I'm happy to have got three goals as well."

Afobe will return to play for the Arsenal under-18s on Tuesday in the FA Youth Cup tie with Darlington.

As well as doing well for himself, Afobe also wants the Arsenal first time to pick up some silverware this season.

He added:
"I want Arsenal to win a trophy this season. I think the Carling cup is asked to lose and hopefully another big trophy.
"As for Huddersfield, we want to finish in the top two and go up automatically."
