Wenger does not expect to increase Ramsey's loan spell with Nottingham Forest

Arsene Wenger says he wants Aaron Ramsey to return to the club once his loan deal with Nottingham Forest expires.

The midfielder has been on loan with the Championship side since November 25, however he has been involved in just 30 minutes of competitive football.

Forest saw their league matches with Bristol City and Scunthorp fall foul of the bad weather.

Ramsey will have to wait until Saturday to discover if he'll be involved in Forest's league clash with Crystal Palace.

After Saturday's match, the Midlands side have three league matches before Ramsey is due to return to north London.

At his lunchtime press conference, Wenger was asked how Ramsey was progressing in his return from injury at Forest.

He said:
"Unfortunately we put him there to play games but every game is postponed at the moment. So at the moment I cannot tell you how well he's doing.
"I want him to stay there until January 2nd because they had seven games when I gave him out so there he can still get five or six, then we'll see. Normally he should come back."
Asked whether he might consider extending the loan, Wenger said:
"I expect him back in January."
