Arsenal v Leeds United - player ratings

Arsenal v Leeds United
FA Cup third round
At Ashburton Grove

Arsenal (4-2-3-1)

Wojciech Szczesny - Comfortable as ever. Seems to have improved his distribution. Excellent save from a Becchio header. Was unlucky with the penalty. - 7

Emmanuel Eboue  Seemed to be given the run around especially during the second half. He was the one being targeted it seemed to me. Didn't offer much going forward or in defence. - 6

Sebastien Squillaci - It will interesting to see if the Frenchman decides to up his game now he's got a run of games. Seemed to coast through his early spell in the team. Now he's got to fight for it. Sometimes poor positionally yesterday. - 6

Johan Djourou - Stood out as our best defender. So unflappable on the ball. Good passing (87.3%), as well as good in the air with the ability to offer us a threat from a dead ball. He is most definitely our first choice defender at the moment. - 8

Kieran Gibbs - Had a very good game. Quiet and confident are the two words which I would use to describe his performance. I'm glad he also game through the game injury  free. Offered an option on the left going forward. - 7

Alex Song (59 mins) - Song didn't seem to be at the races yesterday. He seem to be going through the motions rather than taking the game by the scruff of the neck. Wasn't as positionally disciplined as he has been in the past few league games.

Denilson - Really poor challenge for their penalty. As Fabregas said post match, it's not the sort of mistake a player of his level should be making. Apart from that did what he does best. Played a good passing game and put his tackles in. - 6

Nicklas Bendtner - Grew into the game. Took a bit of time to start going but at the end really heavily involved. Yes, it's not his natuaral position to be playing on the right, but when he wants to be playing games there I don't think he'll be complaining. A real threat in the second half. - 7

Tomas Rosicky (79 mins) - Was our most dynamic player on the pitch. Had to pull all the strings on his own, without much help. Booked by Dowd for a nothing challenge. Worked hard with little end product. - 7

Andrey Arshavin - Not one of his best games but I'm sure when he has a string of games  on the bounce we should start seeing the player we signed. Desperately unlucky with the one on one. The crowd were out of order to get on his back. - 6

Marouane Chamakh (68 mins) - Seems to have lost some of that early season sparkle. Worked hard but prefers to play with his back to goal rather than turn and run at defenders when that's probably what we need him to do more of yesterday. 6

Cesc Fabregas (59 mins for Diaby) - Brought more urgency to the Arsenal cause. His passing is a joy to watch and I was in no doubt when he stepped up to take the penalty he would score. 7

Theo Walcott (68 mins for Marouane Chamakh) - Changed the game for me. Allowed other players to find space they hadn't seen all games whilst using his pace to draw defenders who had been able to cope with Arsenal's one dimension attack. Could have won it for us with one of his last minute shots. 8

Carlos Vela (79 mins for Tomas Rosicky) - Came on and touched the ball once - not good enough for an Arsenal player when we need to win the game. Really needs to show some ambition. Anonymous. - 5
