Van Persie subject of £20 million Italian bid? - Bolton target Vela

Morning Gooners.

With the silly season only just started - otherwise known as the January transfer window - there are only a few transfer rumours doing the rounds.

The first is one I believe has been doing the rounds over the past week but I've yet to see be reported by any of the mainstream media.

Until the Daily Star Sunday comes along and gives it some (if any) creditability.

That is of course that Juventus are to offer us £20 million for Robin van Persie.

I know many of you might suggest if that amount of cash was on offer for the Dutchman we should bite off the hand of the person offering such a deal.

Bur I can't see anyone in their right mind putting on the table an offer of that sort for van Persie considering the amount of time he spends in the treatment room.

However it is easy to forget that he's just 27-years-old, so has most of career left in front of him and you can't imagine him being injured as badly as he has been in the past.

I can't see Arsene Wenger entertaining such an offer even if it was made. With the situation regarding Nicklas Bendtner open to movement within the coming year, I think the last thing the manager wants is more upheaval in his forward line.

The newspaper says Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo could be used as a make weight in the deal. But as far as I'm aware he's not lived up to his billing since his move from Fiorentina and his form has not been consistent.

Anyway, I personally would be very surprised if (a) there was a £20 million bid for Van Persie or (b) we were even entertaining the idea of selling him.

Another forward who could be on his way out of the club on loan in January if the right deal comes along is Carlos Vela.

The People link Bolton with a move for our 21-year-old Mexico striker.

Apparently Owen Coyle is keen on him and considering how well Jack Wilshere was integrated into the Trotters side this time last season, I don't think we should doubt he'll get playing time.

As I wrote on the blog yesterday, I think Vela needs to leave his comfort zone in north London and fight for a place in a team. Be that Bolton or someone else, I think the move needs to be made to further his Arsenal career.

Finally, The Sunday Times report we have an interest in Porto forward Falcao. The same newspaper also suggests Jay Emmanuel-Thomas won't leave the club until the end of the transfer window after any loan deal for Vela and even possibly Nicklas Bendtner is put in place.
