Wenger confirms Wellington Silva will go on loan to Spainish side

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal's Brazilian attacker Wellington Silva is to go to Spain on loan.

Considered one of the brightest prospects of his country, the player - who turned 18 on Thursday - will spend a minimum of 12 months on loan with a Spanish club.

Arsenal applied for an exceptional talent work permit for the attacker last month but this was refused by the Football Association.

Wellington resigned himself to time away from north London following the tribunal's decision.

The manager confirmed that Arsenal must now wait another year before they are able to apply for another work permit for Silva.
Wenger told reporters at his lunchtime press conference:
"He has been turned down for a work permit, that means he cannot play in England.
"He will certainly go to Spain on loan."
The manager added:
"You can only ask for one work permit per season so we have to wait at least until the end of the season to come back.

"Hopefully he does well in the Spanish championship and we have a better chance with the work permit."
