Gooners welcome back an old friend at the Grove in Wolves win

Arsenal fans welcomed back an old friend to the Grove this afternoon.

Andrey Arshavin produced a performance which was arguably one if his best since his first season with the club.

He was outstanding on the left of Arsenal's attacking three.

He chased back, put tackles in and was at the forefront of The Gunners forward play.

Robin van Persie may have got Arsenal's two goals but Arshavin provided the spark.

Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere were superb in an excellent team performance which sets Arsene Wenger's team for their Champions League tie with Barcelona.

The victory takes Arsenal second, four points ahead of Manchester City, with the north Londoners also having a game in hand.

With Manchester United winning in the lunch time kick off, Arsenal reduce the gap at the top of the table to four points.

Wenger withdrew van Persie, Arshavin and Wilshere late into the game to provide them with extra rest for Wednesday's match.
