Arsenal great says Bendtner won't achieve his aim with the Gunners

Former Arsenal star Lee Dixon doesn't believe Nicklas Bendtner will become one of the club's greatest ever strikers.

The ex-Gunner spoke about the Danish international following his interview with the BBC's Football Focus programme.

Bendtner has gone on record saying that his aim is to be one of the best strikers in the world.

However Dixon isn't yet convinced that Bendnter isn't anything more than a good squad player.

Dixon said:
"He's a confident lad and he comes out with some statements, I think certainly sometimes he regrets some of the statements he comes out with, we've all done that.
"But I think he's a good squad player. Whether he goes on to be one of Arsenal's greatest ever strikers I doubt that very much - he should be in the team on a regular basis scoring goals.
"I agree with him, he was playing well before he was injured. Now all of a sudden he's trying to get back into the side.
"He's taken some stick from the fans. In the past I've been at games where he's missed a couple of opportunities but he never gives up - that's his good quality and he's a decent striker.
"Whether he'll be one of the best at Arsenal - I've yet to be convinced at that."
Bendtner will get his chance to impress his critics when he takes over as Arsenal's main striker for the forth coming game with Leyton Orient in the FA Cup fifth round replay on Wednesday night at the Grove.

The Danish hitman will spearhead Arsenal's attack following the injury to Robin van Persie.
