Wenger: Alex Song won't play against Sunderland and is doubtful for Barca

Alex Song is a major doubt for Arsenal's crucial Champions League tie with Barcelona after sustaining a knee injury.

The Cameroon international picked up a knock during Sunday's Carling Cup final defeat against Birmingham City.

It has left Gunners boss Arsene Wenger weighing up his options for the next two games as he has already ruled Song out of playing in Saturday's Premier League tie with Sunderland at the Grove.

When asked if the defensive midfielder would make the game at the Camp Nou, Wenger said it was "doubtful".

Denilson and Abou Diaby have the chance to replace Song in the next two fixtures, but neither offer the same solid base that Song does.

Wenger told Arsenal TV Online:
"At the moment he [Song] has not practiced at all. He has a knee problem and it's getting better every day.
"And I'll follow that up and we'll assess it Monday I think."
