Gazidis: No plans to welcome back David Dein to Arsenal

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis has ruled out a return to Arsenal for former vice-chairman David Dein.

Gazidis was asked whether Dein, who was removed from his position in April 2006, would be considered for a role supporting Arsene Wenger at the club.

Speaking to members of the Arsenal Supporters Trust, Gazidis said:
"As far as David Dein is concerned, I've known David for a long time before I came to Arsenal, I knew David.
"I've never worked with David and I don't know how he work within the club so I can't speak to that and that's not a decision for me.
"I'm not aware of any plans to bring David back into the management at Arsenal."
Trust members have suggested that Arsene Wenger needed more support in his role as Arsenal manager and an appointment at a level which Dein used to hold on the Arsenal board is considered by some as vital to push the club forward.
