Injuries to Kieran Gibbs and Johan Djourou left Arsene Wenger cursing his luck tonight as Arsenal won tonight.

The Frenchman watching from the Directors Box because of his touchline ban, saw Gibbs replace by Djourou at half time after the English man suffered a hamstring injury.

But the Swiss international himself was replaced nine minutes after coming on, with a suspected hamstring injury also.

Arsenal took the lead after four minutes. Theo Walcott putting the Gunners ahead from close range.

The Gunners took a second half battering but ended the night with a clean sheet. Wojciech Szczesny making a number of fine saves.

Arsenal blooded youngsters Carl Jenkinson and Emmanuel Frimpong in the second half.

Theo Walcott should have finished off the match for the Arsenal but for a fine finger tip save by the Udinese keeper.
