Wenger's reaction: "We just wanted to get over the line"

Arsene Wenger has praised his team after gaining their first league win of the season.

The Gunners gained three points in a nervy win over newly promoted Swansea.

Andrey Arshavin was the goal scorer when goal keeper Michel Vorm throw hit one of his own players and fell kindly to Andrey Arshavin who found the back of the net from a tight angle.

Post match, Wenger said:
"It was vital to win the game. We started quite well, but slowly nerves took over and we played with the handbrake on in the second half.
"We just wanted to get over the line and did not make a mistake, but did not manage to score the second goal.
"Swansea keep the ball well and make it difficult, are quick on the flanks and have the basics of a very good Premier League team, they just do not score."

The final ten minutes were nervous as the Gunners protected their slender lead. However the supporters 12th man chants helped bring the team over the line.

Wenger said he wanted his team to draw on this win and push on.

He added:
"Confidence goes quickly and comes back slowly. We are not used to the situation we have been in.
"We will come back - we did not have a lot of players today and when everybody is back, we have a chance.
"But first, we need to put a few wins together."
