Podolski deal set to be announced this week?

Morning Gooners.

Fantastic result for us on Saturday and I don't think it could have been more one sided if Aston Villa had actually bothered to turn up. On top of our 3-0 win, Chelsea and Spurs fought out a goalless draw - probably the best result we could have hoped for.

The table is looking great, seven league wins in a row and we're now sitting pretty in third with eight games to go. On top of all the rosy news about the weekend, the sun was out and we were looking more like the old Arsenal, playing some nice stuff on the pitch.

It's amazing the difference to the way we play when the sun is out. Do the majority of the Arsenal squad suffer from seasonal affective disorder?

I don't think we go out of first gear, which was good for us considering the tough game we had against Everton in midweek. Now though we have the remainder of the week to recharge the batteries and prepare ourselves for QPR and a meeting with our old friend Joey Barton.

Between now and then though we could finally announce the signing of Lukas Podolski. That's what both the Daily Mirror and Daily Telegraph are reporting this morning. Talk about doing our business early. We've not even got to the last few weeks of the season and we're signing up an exciting talent ready for the new campaign.

Perhaps lessons have been learned from what happened last August. They certainly needed to be. And if we are sitting around on August 31 doing no business whatsoever having finished third, I don't think many of us would be complaining.

The feel good factor is back. We've just got to maintain this form until the end of the season.

Until tomorrow.
