M'Vila isn't a done deal -Alex Song set for talks -Goalkeeper merry-go-rounud?

Morning Gooners.

All the talk continues to be about one man... Yann M'Vila. Unsurprisingly really that a lot of us are focusing our attention on a possible transfer rather than on Sunday's game, given the magnitude of what is at stake.

At least we know now that Chelsea will need to win the Champions League to play in it next season after they were royally stuffed by Liverpool last night. The Merseyside club might have knocked four past Ross Turnball but bit doesn't make up for the fact they've managed to equal their worst league home record from 1903-04. That season they played 19 games at home instead of 17 this term.

Perhaps the American owners will let last night's result paper over the cracks and let Kenny spend a load more of their money badly this summer.

Anyway, back to M'Vila. The deal was reported to be 99% done by Julien Laurens yesterday morning. He said the French midfielder would sign for us for 22m euros on a four year deal. The contract was dependent on us finishing with Champions League football, but he would probably sign for us anyway.

Other media outlets have followed this news up - notably the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail.

However from what I've been told a little caution should be attached to these early reports. Arsenal are certainly interested we know. They have been chasing M'Vila for more than a year and would have done a  deal for him last summer if Rennes had been open to selling their star player.

But as for the deal being 99% done, my sources say this is a little premature. As I posted yesterday, a deal is certainly there to be done. Provided we finish third and we can meet Rennes demands for the 21-year-old, he could well be an Arsenal player next season.

However we know with what happened last summer with our business for Juan Mata and Santi Cazorla that nothing is done until the contract is signed.

Certainly there is willing on both Arsenal and the players part. It appears that Rennes are certain to sell him this summer, but as of yet nothing has progressed to the point where the deal is nearly complete.

If we do get a deal concluded for M'Vila there is certainly a question mark over certain members of the Arsenal midfield and certainly Alex Song's position. The Daily Express report he'll seek clarification from Arsene Wenger that he does have a future at the club if we sign the French international.

I think there is a lot still to come out about Song's future at the club, so watch this space.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail report Wenger is interested in bringing Swansea's goalkeeper Michel Vorm to the club as back-up for Wojciech Szczesny.

With Manuel Almunia out of contract at the end of the season and the club open to offers for Vito Mannone, there will certainly be openings in the Gunners goalkeeping department next summer.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Lukasz Fabianski this summer. Whether he'll stay and fight for his place, move out on loan or leave the club for regular first team football. Highly regarded reserve team goalkeeper Damian Martinez could make the step up to the first team squad, which would take one of the places. But there is certainly decisions to be made.

Finally four members of the Gunners squad have been provisionally placed in their country's Euro 2012 squads. Robin van Persie, Per Mertesacker, wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski have all been placed on stand by for the tournament this summer.

That's it for today. More tomorrow.
