RVP's crunch talks over £25m contract -Song's new deal? -M'Vila plans announcement

Morning Gooners.

As we know today is when Robin van Persie will finally sit down with the club to discuss his future. It was always going to happen - however it made the back pages of both The Sun and the Daily Mirror yesterday like it was a big breaking news story.

Talks over Robin's future were always going to take place. Arsene jumped the gun back in October after the AGM when he said the club would begin talks imminently. Robin responded soon after saying he wouldn't sit down until the end of the season to discuss his future. And that's the way it's stayed for the remainder of the season.

So it brings us to today's get together at Arsene's house in Totteridge. It will be where Arsenal offer Robin a three year contract - due to his injury record - and offer to pay him £130,000 a week. He'll also get a £5m signing on fee.

As I mentioned yesterday, I don't expect any decisions to be immediately made today. Robin joins up with the Holland squad tomorrow ahead of Euro 2012 and I think it's highly unlikely he'll go to today's meeting  with the plan of putting pen to paper on a deal straight away until he's exhausted all options about his future.

I'm told he's minded to stay. With his affection to Arsenal, he'll find it hard to move to another Premier League club and the two Manchester clubs appear to be the only ones he'd consider. Juventus have made a play for him but it doesn't sound like Italy is an option. Which leaves Spain and the only two clubs worth playing there for are Real Madrid and Barcelona, neither of whom appear to be knocking down his door.

Whatever Robin's decision, the club won't be selling him this summer. They'll want him to see out the remaining year of his contract even if he decides not to sign an extension. It makes perfect sense. Where else are you going to find  a player of his quality for £5m for a season.

I guess the club will want to know whether Robin wants to sign the deal they're offering him before the start of pre-season training in July. Then they can move accordingly.

I've always been of the opinion Robin will stay and sign the new deal worth £25m. Let's hope we can get it done sooner rather than later.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail are reporting the club are to offer Alex Song a new deal. This is despite our interest in Yann M'Vila who has said he will decide his future after Rennes' final game of the season on Sunday.

And finally we'll get  to find out at 2pm who is in Roy Hodgson's Euro 2012 squad. I would guess Theo Walcott will make the cut and I have a sneaky suspicion that Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will be going to the championships as well. Let's hope so. Would rather he went to the Euros than played in the Olympics.

That's it for today. Until tomorrow.
