Giroud's on his way! -Ramsey wanted by Fulham -Bid made for defender?

Morning Gooners.

Wow, that felt quite weird. A day without any real football to watch on TV. I know last Wednesday there wasn't any either, but that felt like a blip. Now we're going to go two days without a game before the semi-finals. At least it should be a decent game if Portugal turn up against the Spanish.

Yesterday Montpellier said their goodbyes to Olivier Giroud who made his way to London, according to the French media. He's yet to be spotted in north London, so I hope that Lille haven't kidnapped him off the Eurostar!

In all seriousness, the Montpellier president has confirmed the French international is on his way to join the Gunners, if we needed any more reassurance that this deal was actually going to take place following Arsene Wenger saying it was 90% done last week.

The medical should be done soon, if it's not already taken place, and the deal could be announced as early as today.

I'm sure that Ivan Gazidis and Dick Law are already working on other targets as well as trying to tackle the issue of moving some of our unwanted players on. Not an easy task.

One player I'm sure Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep is Aaron Ramsey who has been linked with a move to Fulham. Personally I don't see any truth in this. Ramsey has just completed his first season as a professional at the highest level with Arsenal - to mixed reviews.

I was one of his fans, I have to admit. It was never going to be easy for him to step into the shoes of Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere but I think he did an admirable job. You could see that he was tiring towards the end of the campaign, but that was to be expected with the number of games he was played in.

Going to Fulham would be a step down for him. He plays Champions League football at Arsenal. He wouldn't do that at Craven Cottage. Personally I think it's all talk. Danny Murphy has been moved on and there is talk that Fulham want to bring the average age of their squad down. Ramsey ticks those boxes, but it's never going to happen in my opinion.

And finally for today, the Daily Mail are running a weird story about an unnamed club making a £4.1m bid for Rennes centre back Abdou Kader Mangane. Apparently we've shown an interest in him previously but it's the first time I've heard his name linked with us.

It could happen. But I remember that the last 29-year-old central defender we brought didn't work out too well. Squillaci I think his name was... I wonder whatever happened to him?

Abdou Kader Mangane is one to watch I think.

Right, that's your lot for today. More tomorrow.
