The Ox axed for Carroll? -Arsene wants £70k/week Kalou -Russia's Neymar linked

Morning Gooners.

Well if the rumours are true the Republic of Ireland FA are in talks with Chelsea and Manchester City over the sale of their fans. Both clubs are bidding to bring the Irish to their respective clubs to add fans who will actually sing at games. Chelsea of course hope it will add to their ten year history.

There is also talks the English FA have spoken to both clubs about the sale of the England national team band. However no one seems to be interested in a group of musicians who can only play the great escape tune badly.

On to the football and it appears that Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has been dropped by England manager Roy Hodgson for tonight's game with Sweden for Andy Carroll. Disappointing if true for The Ox, but he was expecting there to be rotation.

It seems the reason for the change is so that Hodgson can play a system known as  4-4-2. As an Arsenal fan, I've rarely seen this in use as it's largely seen as a formation of the past. But I'm sure that Roy knows what he's doing!

I didn't get to see too much of the Euro 2012 games yesterday but heard that Arsenal target Javi Martinez came on and made an impression for Spain. Getting booked for his only tackle. I'm sure Arsene is watching! He'll be hoping to get to see Yann M'Vila in the flesh later as France take on Ukraine. It might also be a chance to see Olivier Giroud and perhaps meet him after the game to get him to sign his contract.

There's no further update on the Giroud deal other than Arsenal hope it can be finalised in the next couple of days.

We've been linked yet again with Saloman Kalou by the Daily Mirror who report that Wenger wants to bring him to the club but wants to shift a few players out so we can accommodate his £70k a week wages.

One of those high earners Wenger must be wanting to move on is "nine league minutes" Sebastien Squillaci who is talking to French sides Bastia and Evian. The 31-year-old former France international defender has one year left on his contract after he moved to north London from Seville two years ago and should be allowed to leave for a modest fee.

Rather than give Kalou another go in at a Premier League club, why not go for someone like the Russian international Alan Dzagoev who has been again linked with a move to north London, this time by the Daily Mail. If Russia's Neymar can do the business at the Euros, why couldn't he make it in the Premier League? Arshavin did it for six months or so!

I could talk about Manchester City's plans to move out four strikers in order to create space in their squad for Robin van Persie, but I'm really not interested in that. Interestingly,  Arsenal are saying that Robin will be with the club for the Asia tour. Is it to boost ticket sales or are the rumours about Robin not wanting to sign a new deal rubbish? Only time will tell.

That's it for today. More tomorrow.
