The latest set of pictures from the training ground have been posted and it certainly appears that Andre Santo is one of the biggest characters in the group. He seems to have everyone smiling with his latest antics.
One of the interesting things I spotted in this picture of Steve Bould working with Thomas Vermaelen, Johan Djourou and Kieran Gibbs. If this is only on day two of full pre-season training, there is certainly some hope that we might be going in the right direction for the coming season.
Defence is certainly somewhere we need to improve on. Conceding 49 league goals isn't good enough from a team which wants to challenge for major trophies. And if we're not going to try and solve it in the transfer market, the issues have to be resolved on the pitches at the training ground.
I don't think that anyone would deny that as individuals, Bacary Sagna, Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Thomas Vermaelen, Kieran Gibbs and Andre Santos are very good players. It's working as a defensive unit where they have issues.
Meanwhile, the club have revealed the new away kit for the forthcoming season. It's purple and the goalkeepeer's kit is pink. That's about as much as I can say about it. I'm quite indifferent about it. It's not blue - a good thing - but it's not yellow - a bad thing.
Elsewhere, Kyle Bartley has revealed on Twitter that he's been promoted to the first team squad. It's fantastic that his hard work while on loan has paid off and recognised by Arsene Wenger and his coaching staff.
And finally the Daily Mail have linked Andrey Arshavin with a move back to Zenit St Petersburg.
That's it for today. More tomorrow.
