Fergie does Arsene a favour! (seriously) -Nzonzi on radar -Duo's Colney return

Morning Gooners.

Well it appears on the face of it Fergie has done Arsene Wenger a massive favour by telling "footballing friends" that Robin van P€r$i€ will be moving to Old Trafford this summer, according to both the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail.

I think Manchester United would love to sign Robin. Will it happen? Not in a month of Sundays. You have to consider that this move (whether it happens this summer or next) will be the last time he'll be able to get a huge contract.

At the moment the red Manchester club have to be the bottom of RVP's three options. They didn't win a trophy last season and won't be able to match the salary offered by their neighbours. Even Juventus won more than Fergie's team last season.

But Fergie knows Manchester United need to be in there bidding for the big players to keep his fan base happy, even though he knows he has little chance of beating Mancini to the signature of a player who is wanted by both clubs.

What Fergie's involvement does though is increase our chances of getting a bigger fee for van P€r$i€. Mancini doesn't want to lose out on a signing to Old Trafford. If he does that will give the red half of Manchester a huge lift and that's a free card which I doubt he'll want to give out, with the knowledge that Fergie's men are one of a handful of contenders for the title this season.

I can't see Robin staying even though the club are strengthening their bargaining position by telling him they'll keep him to his contract and he must see it out. But Arsenal have to talk a good game to get the fee they want for him.

Will van P€r$i€ be on the plane to the Far East on Saturday afternoon. I don't think there is even a possibility he won't be unless he's not an Arsenal player. Nasri went last summer and he ended up leaving. It will just mean he won't speak to the media or do any PR work.

On a positive note, Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski return to London Colney today for their medical assessments. I'm not 100% sure but Olivier Giroud might be there as well.

And finally, The Sun are reporting we're now on alert after Blackburn midfielder Steven Nzonzi has handed in a transfer request. The relegated club want £10m for him. I doubt we'll offer more than half that, if we are still interested in the player we watched last season.

That's it for today. More tomorrow.
