M'Vila deal "dead" -Bendtner to join Schalke? -Spurs and Chelsea want Walcott

Morning Gooners.

There has been some disappointing news overnight about the fitness of Jack Wilshere, with the Sunday Mirror reporting the midfielder isn't expected to play again until mid September.

Expecting Jack to be ready for the start of the season was probably wishful thinking. He only underwent the operation on his knee six weeks ago. But the news he won't play for the first month of the season is a blow.

However, we should be able to cope without him and when he does return to full fitness we'll be a better team. There is no reason to rush Jack back only for him to suffer another set back. That will just dent his confidence even more than it already has been.

I would prefer a more cautious approach. We also have to limit our expectation levels around Jack as well. He's an excellent player, we saw that in his first full season for us. But his reputation has grown more with him being sidelined. He's only 20-years-old and will need quite a bit of time to reacclimatise himself to the pace of the Premier League.

We don't need to weigh his young shoulders down with unrealistic levels of expectation before he's even kicked a ball.

One player who is not expected to be seen in an Arsenal shirt this season is Yann M'Vila. The Sunday Mirror are reporting what's already been said before that we've withdrawn our interest in the France international.

As I've said all summer long, M'Vila is someone we've tracked for the past two seasons, however we've not put a bid in this summer after Rennes set a price we weren't prepared to pay.

That doesn't mean we won't and Arsenal could trying to double bluff Rennes into lowering their price, although M'Vila's attitude at the Euros hasn't helped. But having watched him for the past 24 months, Arsene Wenger would have know about his attitude long before what happened in Poland and Ukraine.

Elsewhere, Theo Walcott's situation is making headlines and depending who you read is either off to Spurs, Chelsea or PSG. The Sunday Express believe our north London neighbours are after Theo, While the Sunday Mirror think he's tempting Roman Abramovich and the Parisian club.

One thing's for certain, Theo's situation needs to be resolved this summer. All the indications are is that he wants to stay at Arsenal. But his people pulling out of contract talks with Arsenal last autumn is not a good sign.

Many believe that Theo's future is linked to that of Robin van Persie. And the on going saga of our captain's future is covered by the Sunday Mirror who repeat the line about Manchester City having to sell before they can spend and that could involve flogging Adebayor to Spurs.

While the Sunday Express talk up the possibility that Robin is weighing up a move to PSG. Can't see that one happening myself.

And here's one from left-field. L'Equipe are reporting Nicklas Bendtner is set to replace Klaas-Jan Huntelaar at  Schalke.

That's it for today. More tomorrow.
