Scouts recommend Jovetic and Lewandowski to Wenger -Chamakh staying? -Brazil no go

Morning Gooners.

We finally have the evidence that the Arsenal players have returned for pre-season training. A cracking set of pictures from the training ground were posted on the official site yesterday. I'm sure there were a few people weeping when they saw that Sebastien Squillaci was back at Colney and others trying to work out who Kyle Bartley was.

And then there was Abou Diaby. It was great to see him involved. Let's all hope that this is his season. If he can have a spell without being injured for any length of time and build up his game time, he could be a very influential player for us. But I don't think anyone would be surprised if he had another injury hit campaign.

The Southampton pre-season friendly is just days away. It's got me excited and I'm looking forward to seeing the players back in action.

Those at the European Championships weren't involved. Although as I said yesterday Arsene Wenger will meet with Robin van P€r$i€ before the week is out to resolve his future. He does not want the captain returning to training without knowing exactly how he feels.

Nearly a week on from his statement I'm still taken aback with what Robin allowed to be said in his name. But that's footballers for you. It's good to hear that Arsene won't be trying to string this out for the remainder of the transfer window if Robin is really not going to change his mind. We saw how destabilising that was last summer.

It's interesting that after Sky Sports published a story which said van P€r$i€ might have had a change of heart about his Arsenal future it was quickly pulled from their site.

If van P€r$i€ does go, does that leave us with an option to buy another striker? The Daily Mail think out scouting network have identified Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic and Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski as players that would fit right in.

I'm not sure that due to the number of strikers we have on our books that another will join this summer considering the business we've done in bringing in Lucas Podolski and Olivier Giroud. I think there are other areas of the team which would be better served with money spent on them.

And Fiorentina have denied making an offer for Marouane Chamakh, so that's the end of that.

Elsewhere, The Sun report Arsene has turned down an offer to coach Brazil.

That's it for today. More tomorrow.
