IT seems we're about to step up our interest in Gonzalo Higuain by making an offer for the Real Madrid striker. Both the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail report Arsene Wenger is prepared to smash our record transfer fee for the 25-year-old with a bid of £22m.
According to the Daily Mail Higuain has privately agreed to join us and all is left for the two clubs to do is agree a price! Like that is just a small matter in a deal of this size...
Anyway, it seems as though this week could be the week we finally put a bid on the table. I'm sure things are going on in the background which we are not privileged too. But it does seem like things are progressing and if Higuain is the manager's number one striking option, lets go and do the deal.
Elsewhere, The Sun report Laurent Koscileny is to snub the advances of Bayern Munich and Barcelona to stay at Arsenal.
According to the report Lolo has told Arsene Wenger he's happy to remain at the club and is not interest in leaving.
The Sun also believes Bacary Sagna will stay and see out the final year of his contract before becoming a free agent next summer.
Meanwhile the Daily Mirror pick up a story which was ran in their sister title The People on Sunday which says newly-promoted Crystal Palace are keen on taking striker Joel Campbell on a season-long loan.
Costa Rican Campbell, 20, has 24 international caps, spent last season on loan at Real Betis in Spain and the season before was at Lorient in France. The Mirror don't believe a work permit will not be an issue for him to spend his first season in the Premier League.
According to the Daily Mail and The Sun we're closely watching Spain Under 21 international Asier Illarramendi. The 23-year-old plays for Real Sociedad as a defensive midfielder and last season made 32 starts in La Liga. He's also being scouted by Real Madrid. The newspaper believes he's worth £10million.
And finally the West Brom wonder kid Yan Dhanda is on Arsene Wenger's radar according to the Daily Mirror.
Dhanda has been called up for England Under-16 duty at just 14-years-old and will be the youngest player in his international group.
According to the paper, Dhanda was snapped up as a kid after being spotted in an Asian Soccer Star talent competition and his skills are already an internet sensation.
That's it for today. Back with more tomorrow.
