Wenger given approval for £40m Suarez bid -Sagna's "big season" excitement

Morning Gooners.

The main news today centres around our on going transfer negotiation for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

The Daily Mail report manager Arsene Wenger has been given "the green light" to make a £40m bid for Luis Suarez.

Quite who he has been given this approval by is not touched upon. You've got to imagine it was owner Stan Kroenke because he seems to be the only person with authority to block such a bid.

So you've got to imagine it won't be long before chief executive Ivan Gazidis and transfer fixer Dick Law are on the phone to Liverpool to make our offer.

However The Sun believes that the Anfield club will be looking for closer to £55m, after Edinson Cavani was signed for PSG for that fee. A price brand Brendan Rodgers believes Suarez is also in.

Elsewhere, Bacary Sagna has been talking ahead of the new season.

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Sagna said:
"I enjoy playing for Arsenal. I love my team, I give 100 per cent for the team and I always give my best. I'm still here.
"Many people were talking about me going back to France but I'm still here and I'm looking forward to a big season with Arsenal.
"Last year was difficult. I only had one year left and people were looking at that and maybe thinking I would leave.
"But I tried to stay as calm as I could. Now I will work hard in pre-season and have a good season for Arsenal. I always give my best."

I'd love Sagna to have a fantastic season with us and be rewarded with a longer contract than the one year deal he's been offered. I think this year will see Carl Jenkinson really challenge the Frenchman hard for his spot in the team. And it will be a battle for the right back spot which will only benefit the club.

That's it for today. Back with more tomorrow.
