Dein talks midfielder's contract with Law -Madrid to sell trio -Cabaye bid

Morning Gooners

After last night's snooze fest at Old Trafford, it's time for the real football to take place at the Grove tonight. Arsenal may well be 3-0 up from the first leg, but there is still 90 minutes of football to play and we need to see out the game as comfortably as we can. A few early goals would help settle any nerves.

I'd expect there to be one change to the starting 11 which is being well trailed in the media. Jack Wilshere coming into the midfield and Tomas Rosicky being handed a rest ahead of his favourite game of the season - Sunday's north London derby.

Wenger rested Jack last weekend and revealed yesterday that his absence was down to his "numbers" being high.

The manager said:
"He was a bit tired [before the Fulham game] but it was more about giving him a rest.
"He could have played but it made sense to give him a breather because we're playing every three days at the moment. He is not 100 per cent yet, but he is 90 per cent.
"I'm a bit cautious because he's had a few operations. I don't want to make a mistake on the medical front and overuse him because the ankle is the most important part of any football player."

It made sense to leave him out on Saturday. There does appear to be a balancing act taking place at the moment with him. There is a conundrum about where his best position is and how he fits into this team. At the moment I would suggest that Aaron Ramsey is ahead of Jack in the pecking order. And with Tomas Rosicky playing well in the role behind the striker, it leaves the manager with few options when it comes to playing Jack.

Wilshere also needs playing time t get his rhythm right and to find his groove. Perhaps the injury to Mikel Arteta will allow him to get the minutes he needs to establish himself in this team. However I don't think there is any concern even in the current predicament we have when it comes to numbers in midfield that the manager will over play him.

There doesn't seem to be an eagerness to rush back Laurent Koscielny for tonight's game following his head injury in the game in Turkey last week. It's expected that Bacary Sagna will keep his place alongside Per Mertesacker in the heart of the defence.

Away from tonight's game and there is moves afoot to get Mathieu Flamini signed up before this weekend. His agent Darren Dein held extensive talks with Dick Law at London Colney yesterday, according to the Daily Mail.

There is also hope we'll be able to do a deal with Real Madrid for at least one if not two of the trio of their players which are currently being offered to Europe's elite clubs.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Karim Benzema has been offered to Arsenal behind his back as the Spanish club look to sell the player so they can fund deals for Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez.

Signing Benzema, Angel Di Maria or Mesut Ozil would add good depth to our squad in attacking terms and I'd certainly bite of your hand if we were in a position to add just one of them to our squad.

Meanwhile the Daily Telegraph report we're set to offer an improved bid of £15m to Newcastle for Yohan Cabaye.

And finally, the Daily Mail say we're slugging it out with Tottenham in a race for Bulgaria winger Todor Nevelev. The 20-year-old scored for Botev Plovdiv in their 3-2 win over Slavia Sofia on Sunday. We're reported to be weighing up a £3m bid.
