Suarez set for urgent talks as Wenger plots £49m bid -Gustavo latest

Morning Gooners.

The international football is out of the way and now the build up begins to the Premier League season which is now less than 60 hours away at the time of posting.

Hopefully all our ten player who were representing their countries will come back uninjured. I watched the England vs Scotland game last night and saw Jack Wilshere come off at half time, Theo Walcott given a 75 minute run out and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain come on for the final 30 minutes. All seemed fine and should be available for selection.

The manager is due to speak with the media today so hopefully he'll have an update on whether any of his players are injured. The biggest doubt will probably be over Santi Cazorla's involvement due to his long flight to Ecuador.

Away from last night's action and The Times reports that Luis Suárez is set to hold urgent talks with Brendan Rodgers over his future, following the quotes attributed to him while he was in Japan. No one quite knows whether he said what he was supposed to have said about staying at Liverpool. My feeling is that Suarez didn't say anything about remaining at Anfield this season.

As the Daily Mirror reports Arsene Wenger is still on the chase for Suarez, despite all that's been said.

And the Daily Telegraph say we're set to offer Liverpool a package which would reach £49million. Personally I hope we offer them more than £50m, because they're more likely to do business.

Elsewhere the Daily Mail believe Sunderland are interested in signing right back Carl Jenkinson on loan.

And finally The Guardian suggest we've fallen behind Wolfsburg in the race to sign Bayern Munich's Luiz Gustavo.

That's it for today. back with more tomorrow.
