Arsenal linked with English forward who's scored 15 goals in 33 appearances

Arsenal are said to be monitoring the recovery from injury of Jay Rodriguez after being impressed by Southampton forward.

The Daily Star report the Gunners made an enquiry for the 24-year-old who has scored 15 goals in 33 Premier League appearances this season.

It's been an impressive campaign for the former Burnley man, who has also been called up by Roy Hodgson into the senior England set up.

However he ruptured knee ligaments during the Saints 4-1 defeat to Manchester City last weekend and the injury has ended his season and dreams of playing in the World Cup in Brazil.

Rodriguez was ruled out for six months after seeing a knee specialist on Monday night.

But the Gunners are said to still be keen on the player, who is also attracting interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.
