Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has announced on his Facebook page he has become a father for the first time.
The 25-year-old announced in December wife Melanie was expecting their first child and today she gave birth to a baby boy.
The couple have named him Finley.
Theo posted on Facebook:
"So over the moon to announce the birth of our baby boy Finley born this morning....
"It's amazing to be mummy & daddy!
"Love him so much x"Walcott is currently sidelined with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury that will keep him out the rest of the season at Arsenal and of this summer's World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking on Sunday, Walcott said he hoped to be involved in pre-season training with the Gunners and that the treatment he was receiving for his injury was going well.
"The knee is coming along really well now.
"It is a long, tedious, six-nine month treatment that I've got to come through but I'm three months in now and taking it week by week because I don't like putting monthly targets on it.
"I am, though, hopeful of being involved in pre-season and as I am still young, I know my time will come in a World Cup."Walcott scored six goals in 18 appearances for the Gunners this season, prior to his injury in Arsenal's 2-0 victory over north London rivals Tottenham in the FA Cup third round in January.
