Pardew: Arsenal were too good

Alan Pardew admitted his side lost to better team after they were defeated 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal went a goal up in the 26th minute as Laurent Koscielny got the final touch on a Santi Cazorla free kick, awarded after Olivier Giroud was fouled by Moussa Sissoko.

And the Gunners added to their lead just before half time when Mesut Ozil put the ball in the back of the net after Giroud had three chances saved at close range by Tim Krul.

Another goal 21 minutes into the second half by Giroud from an Ozil cross secured all three points for Arsene Wenger's men and sets them up ready to secure Champions League football if Everton fail to beat Manchester City on Saturday.

The Newcastle manager told Sky Sports:
"Arsenal were on good form tonight. It was a shame the first goal because I didn't think it was a foul to be honest. The pass was way over hit and it was something and nothing. I was surprised he gave that.
"We should have done better at defending it. It was tough for us. We dug in, worked hard and tried to offer a threat but they were too good."
The victory was Arsenal's third straight win on the bounce, scoring three goals on each occassion.
