Podolski: There's a great spirit at Arsenal. I love having fun here

Lucas Podolski believes that while football is a job for him, he must never stop having fun on and off the pitch.

The charismatic German, who has become a fans' favourite at the Emirates, also believes the Premier League is the best league in the world because so many teams are involved in the title race.

The 28-year-old has only made 14 league appearances in his second season in north London, scoring four goals and providing two assists. But insists he is still enjoying life in London.

In an interview with the Green Soccer Journal, the German international said:
"Football is a job. But I think the most important thing for me is to have fun in the sport.
"Sometimes you play a bad season or a couple of matches but you don't forget about your family or to have fun in the sport, I think this is an important thing.
"You must love this game and when you come out on this pitch, you must say 'Come on, this is what you love, this is what you do'. Every day I enjoy it on the pitch."
He added:
"I think the Premier League is the best league in the world. When I came to Arsenal I saw it on the pitch: the speed, the power is good, the crowd, the fans, the stadiums.
"So it's similar to Germany, but I think the Premier League is one step higher.
"You have five, six, seven teams that fight for the title.
"When you play for a great club like Arsenal, it's not only Arsene Wenger, I think the stuff around the team, all are great from the first day. We have a nice spirit in the team.
"You feel very welcome at the club."
