Reports in Spain suggest Arsenal have activated the clause in Carlos Vela's contract to buy him back from Real Sociedad.
The Mexican left north London in a permanent deal in August 2012, after spending a successful loan spell in San Sebastian the season before.
Now it appears the Gunners have made moves to bring the 25-year-old back to England for just £4million.
Vela has had a successful season in Spain scoring 15 goals and creating 12 assists in 36 La Liga appearances.
However it is uncertain whether the player would welcome a return to north London where made his debut for Arsene Wenger's side in 2008.
Reports suggest the striker's agent held talks with Gunners executives in the last few days.
In his three year spell at the Emirates, Vela scored 11 times in 62 games.
